The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, has opened online applications for admission into its 78th Regular Course. The application window runs from Friday, 28 November 2025 to 30 April 2026, and the opportunity is open to qualified Nigerian males and females who meet the approved requirements.
Successful candidates will undergo full-time military and academic training within the Academy. Training, accommodation, administration, and logistics are fully funded by the Federal Government of Nigeria, meaning cadets do not pay tuition throughout the programme. That alone makes this one of the most competitive—and attractive—admission routes in the country.
The programme lasts five years, combining rigorous military training with undergraduate studies. Graduates earn an honours degree (BSc, BEng, or BA, depending on their discipline) and receive a Presidential Commission into the Armed Forces of Nigeria. It’s demanding, no doubt—but many past cadets agree the structure builds discipline early and fast.

Admission Requirements
Detailed information on available courses, eligibility, subject combinations, and screening centres is provided on the NDA application portal. While knowledge of French, Arabic, or Mandarin is an added advantage, it is not compulsory.
Ordinary Level results (SSCE, NECO, or equivalent) must be not more than five years old at the time of admission.
To qualify for the 78th Regular Course, candidates must:
• Be medically and physically fit with good moral character
• Be single (male or female) with no legal obligation to support a child or dependent
• Present a valid Certificate of Indigeneship from a state or local government
• Be at least 17 years old and not more than 21 years by August 2026
• Possess a minimum of five O’Level credits at not more than two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, and three relevant subjects related to the chosen course
• Have sat for the UTME and met the JAMB-approved national cut-off mark
• Meet the minimum height requirement: 1.68m for males and 1.65m for females
• Any background in French, Arabic, or Mandarin counts as an advantage
⸻
Important Notes for Applicants
Candidates are advised to note the following carefully:
• Applications without O’Level results will not be processed
• Awaiting results candidates are not eligible
• Only O’Level results not older than five years will be accepted
• UTME subject combinations must match those listed on the NDA portal
Missing any of these requirements can lead to automatic disqualification—no appeals, no second chances.
⸻
Method of Application
Applicants should visit the NDA application portal at www.ndaapplications.net and select “Purchase Access Code.”
The application fee is ₦7,000, payable via REMITA. Only payments made with an RRR generated on the portal will be recognised.
After payment, candidates must complete the online application form carefully and follow all instructions provided. Applicants are also required to sit for the UTME.
Completed applications must be submitted online with scanned copies of SSCE, NECO, or equivalent results. After submission, candidates should download and keep the Acknowledgement Form—forgetting this step has cost many applicants later.
⸻
Screening Test Conditions
Only candidates who meet the admission requirements and score at least:
• 210 for Engineering courses, or
• 180 for other faculties
in the UTME will be eligible to print the Screening Test Admission Card and participate in the NDA Screening Test (Phase One of the Post-UTME).
⸻
Screening Test Date and Required Documents
The NDA Screening Test is scheduled for Saturday, 6 June 2026.
Candidates must come along with:
• Acknowledgement Form
• Screening Test Admission Card
• JAMB Result Slip
• Two postcard-sized photographs (3.5 × 5 inches)
Photographs must show the candidate from the chest upward. At the back of each photo, candidates should clearly write their name, exam number, state, exam centre, course, and add a signature.
Only candidates who pass this stage will be invited for the Armed Forces Selection Board (Phase Two). Final admission lists will be released after the completion of this process.
⸻
Reference Materials
The Academy provides a Compendium of Past Questions and Answers, available for purchase at a small fee from the NDA Registry. Many candidates find it extremely helpful for focused preparation—steady practice here pays off.
