Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife has officially released the timetable for the mid-semester tests for all newly admitted students in the 2025/2026 academic session. No rumours. No guesswork. The dates are locked in.
According to an internal memorandum signed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor G. A. Aderoumnu, the University Senate has approved that the tests will run from Monday, 19 January to Saturday, 24 January 2026. That window is final, and every faculty and department is expected to plan strictly within it.

CBT Is No Longer Optional For Large Classes
Here’s the part everyone needs to pay attention to.
The same memo introduces a mandatory Computer-Based Test (CBT) format for all courses with more than 250 students. This rule applies not only to the upcoming mid-semester tests but also to end-of-semester examinations.
The directive flows directly from a Senate decision and aligns with the university’s push for credible, technology-driven assessments. Translation: this is a requirement, not advice. There’s no manual option for large classes anymore.
⸻
What Faculties And Departments Must Do Now
Faculty Deans and Heads of Departments have been clearly instructed to:
• Stick strictly to the approved test dates
• Ensure all large-enrolment courses are conducted via CBT
• Begin early preparations and work closely with relevant ICT support units to avoid last-minute chaos
The message between the lines is simple: when the test period starts, every large class is expected to be CBT-ready. No excuses.
⸻
CBT Support And Enquiry Contacts
For guidance, technical support, or CBT-related enquiries, the memorandum provides the following contacts:
• Professor R. L. Ikono – +234 803 510 2875
• Professor B. O. Akinyemi – +234 905 300 7111
• Engineer O. A. Adewara – +234 803 351 7445
⸻
Compliance Is Mandatory
The memo closes with a firm reminder: all faculties and departments must comply with both the approved test schedule and the compulsory CBT policy for large classes.
Bottom line? Dates are set. CBT is compulsory. Preparation starts now.
