Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai has secured full accreditation for ten of its courses from the National Universities Commission (NUC), with one course receiving interim accreditation.

A letter from the NUC, signed by Director of Accreditation Engr. Abraham Chundusu on behalf of Executive Secretary Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, informed the Vice Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman, of the decision. The Commission acted in accordance with the Education (National Minimum Standard and Establishment of Institutions) Act, which empowers it to set academic standards and accredit programs in Nigerian universities.

The fully accredited undergraduate courses include Business Administration, Agriculture, French Language, Islamic Studies, Agricultural Education, Education Geography, Education Mathematics, Guidance and Counseling, Biotechnology, and Geology. However, History and International Relations received interim accreditation.

In response to the news, Vice Chancellor Professor Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman expressed gratitude to the NUC and pledged to maintain quality and standards to meet the Commission's requirements. He noted that the university is progressing towards its vision of becoming a world-class center of excellence driven by people, partnerships, science, and technology.

Professor Suleiman highlighted that IBB University, Lapai, is among the few universities in the country with most of its programs fully accredited. He thanked the Executive Governor of Niger State, Farmer Umaru Mohammed Bago, for his financial support to the institution. The Vice Chancellor also appreciated the Ministries of Tertiary Education, Finance, and Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for their support.

The NUC accreditation teams visited the campus between October and November 2025. Except for History and International Relations, which are due for another round of accreditation in 2027, all other courses are scheduled for 2030. Professor Suleiman encouraged staff and students to remain committed to the university's development for the benefit of the state and the nation.
