The Plateau State University (PLASU) has released the guidelines and important dates for the SUG Election 2026. The sale of forms commenced on 29th April, 2026, and will close on 6th May, 2026. Nomination forms are obtainable from the ELCOM Secretary, Yakubu Ezra Simon, upon providing proof of payment made into the ELCOM treasury.
The guidelines stipulate that no student in their final year of study can contest election into any executive office of the union. Additionally, 100-level students are not eligible to contest. Aspirants must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.50 with no carryover for certain positions, while others require a minimum CGPA of 2.50 with no more than two carryovers.
Aspirants for the positions of President, Secretary General, Financial Secretary, and Treasurer must have a minimum CGPA of 3.50 with no carryover. They must also be in their 300 Level. Other positions are open to students in both 200 and 300 Level.
The screening of aspirants will be on 6th May, 2026, at the Directorate of Students Affairs. The Presidential Debate is scheduled for 19th May, 2026, at SSA by 3:00pm, while the Manifesto is on 20th May, 2026, at Aluta Ground (Students Centre) by 2:00pm. Campaigns will end by 11:30pm on 20th May, 2026.
The election will hold on 21st and 22nd May, 2026, for executive and parliament respectively at the various polling units and other designated venues from 8:00am - 1:00pm. Aspirants are to provide only one agent per polling unit.
To vote, students require their student identity card, verified tuition fees receipt, and S.U.G receipt for the current academic session. Aspirants must provide a copy of their completed nomination form, a duly signed letter of undertaking to abide by the code of conduct, and other required documents during screening.

Welfare secretary: ₦ 20,000 h. Director of socials: ₦ 20,000 i. Director of sport: ₦ 20,000 j. Sales Secretary: ₦ 20,000 k. Public Relation Officer: ₦ 15,000
2. The Hostel Government Executive Council: a. The Governor: ₦ 10,000 b. The secretary general: ₦ 5,000 c. Welfare secretary: ₦ 5,000 d. Treasurer: ₦ 5,000 e. Public Relations Officer: ₦ 5,000
3. Legislators: Senator: ₦ 20,000
The nomination form shall be made available to aspirants upon providing proof of payment to the ELCOM Secretary, Yakubu Ezra Simon.
