The Directorate of Information and Public Relations at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, acting for the Vice‑Chancellor, hereby formally notifies the public, stakeholders, staff, students and the whole university community about a troubling fraudulent incident.
University management has become aware that dishonest individuals have set up counterfeit Facebook profiles bearing the name of Vice‑Chancellor Professor Ibrahim Hassan Garba, and have been adding friends and followers over the past several days.
The Directorate notes that this is not the first occurrence of such impersonation; earlier similar attempts have been identified and successfully refuted by university authorities.
What is particularly alarming is the degree of trust these bogus accounts have managed to attract from stakeholders, including members of the university community.
Given this unsettling situation, the Vice‑Chancellor again stresses unequivocally that these Facebook profiles are false, fraudulent, and do not originate from his office; he maintains that he holds no social‑media accounts at all.
Accordingly, the university administration, via the Vice‑Chancellor’s office, urges every stakeholder—both inside and outside the institution—to unfriend these impostors and refrain from any official or personal dealings conducted under the Vice‑Chancellor’s name.
All members of the public are strongly cautioned to exercise utmost vigilance and to ignore any request, message or solicitation that originates from these counterfeit accounts.
