Obiora-Nwokedi Nmesoma, a student of Queens Convent, Awka, Anambra State, has made headlines by emerging as the top scorer in her school in the just-concluded 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). She achieved an impressive score of 343 in the resit exam conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), following the now-infamous technical issues that plagued the initial round.
Nmesoma’s first result—an uncharacteristically low score of 165—sparked confusion and concern, as it starkly contradicted her strong academic record. JAMB later acknowledged the fault, attributing the discrepancies to technical glitches in its system. The incident triggered distress nationwide, with reports indicating that several students were deeply affected—one case allegedly resulting in tragedy.
But for Nmesoma, the story didn’t end there.
In an exclusive interview, the Principal of Queens Convent, Dr. Martha Ibezim, praised Nmesoma’s resilience and credited her remarkable turnaround to the school’s unwavering dedication to academic excellence and holistic education.
“Nmesoma refused to be defined by an error,” Ibezim said. “Scoring 165 due to a system glitch could have crushed her spirit—but instead, she channeled that disappointment into motivation. She came back stronger, scoring 343 in the resit. That’s the mark of a true academic warrior.”
Dr. Ibezim highlighted that this success reflects the school’s robust educational framework—driven by passionate faculty, modern learning facilities, and intensive preparatory programs designed to groom students for academic distinction.
According to her, Nmesoma’s victory not only restores faith in her academic potential but also reinforces Queens Convent’s reputation as a citadel of intellectual and personal development.
“Nmesoma is a shining example of what happens when talent meets opportunity and determination,” the principal added. “She’s brought pride to the entire school community, and we believe this is only the beginning of a very bright future.”
Nmesoma’s journey—marked by a turbulent start and a triumphant comeback—now serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration to students across the country, proving that setbacks can be setups for an even greater success story.
