Following the indefinite strike announced on 2 September 2026, the Emergency Congress met on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, to assess the latest talks with university management.

CORE REASONS FOR SUSPENSION

• Secured CATA Warrant: University management has now received the official payment warrant for six months of accumulated CATA covering March through August 2026.
• Binding Disbursement Timeline: A signed Memorandum of Understanding guarantees that all eligible members will be paid in full within ten days of the agreement, effective from 9 September 2026, and includes a commitment regarding the EAA.

GOOD FAITH AND PUBLIC INTEREST

In keeping with ASUU’s commitment to transparent and constructive dialogue, the Congress agreed that these tangible steps merit an immediate goodwill gesture to safeguard the continuity of academic activities.

CONGRESS DECISION

Given the firm assurances provided, the Emergency Congress unanimously voted to halt the industrial action effective immediately, starting today, Wednesday, 9 September 2026. All academic staff are therefore expected to return to their duties promptly and continue their responsibilities with diligence.
