This notice is addressed to all students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, both the Awka and Agulu campuses, to announce the officially approved fees and procedural guidelines for hostel residency in the 2026/2027 academic session.

According to a circular released by the Students’ Affairs Department and dated September 21, 2026, any student who lived in university hostels during the 2025/2026 session, as well as those who did not but now wish to secure a place for the upcoming session, may submit an application.

Hostel Accommodation Fees

• Returning students will be charged N80,000 for hostel residency.
• New entrants are required to pay N128,000 for accommodation in the existing university hostels.
• For the newly commissioned Ngozi Okonjo‑Iweala Female Hostel, returning occupants will pay N150,000.
• Fresh female students seeking a room in the same facility will be billed N200,000.

Hostel Retention and Change of Room

The window for returning occupants who were housed in university hostels during the 2025/2026 academic year to retain their rooms or request a change will open at 12:01 am on Wednesday, September 24, 2026, and will close at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, September 30, 2026.

Accommodation for Students Who Did Not Reside in Hostels

Students who did not occupy any university hostel in the 2025/2026 session but now wish to obtain accommodation in any of the five older hostels for the 2026/2027 session may apply from Wednesday, September 24, 2026, through Friday, September 26, 2026.

Allocation will depend on the number of rooms still available at the time of application.

Ngozi Okonjo‑Iweala Female Hostel

The new Ngozi Okonjo‑Iweala Female Hostel is open to all qualified female students, regardless of whether they lived in a university hostel during the previous academic session.

Rooms in this female‑only facility will be assigned on a first‑come, first‑served basis.

Hostel Portal for New Students

The circular also indicates that the online portal for new students to apply for hostel accommodation will become active on Wednesday, October 1. All incoming students must first obtain their school registration number before proceeding with the hostel application.

Hostel Facilities

The university confirms that occupants of the hostels will receive a designated bed space, a mattress, and access to water and electricity, the latter supplied via solar power and EEDC.

Students are urged to review the applicable fees and application windows carefully and to make the necessary arrangements well before the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session.
