The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has formally announced the schedule for its 2026 hostel accommodation exercise for both fresh and returning students.

The announcement was issued by the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Ahmadu M. Brono, in a circular dated 12 January 2026. Students seeking on-campus accommodation are advised to adhere strictly to the outlined timeline, as failure to complete any stage of the process may result in forfeiture of hostel space.

Hostel Opening Date

UNIMAID hostels will be opened for student occupation from Monday, 26 January 2026.

Collection Of Hostel PINs

Students are to obtain their hostel transaction PINs from the designated Microfinance Bank beginning Thursday, 15 January 2026.
This PIN—regardless of how it is referred to—is mandatory for all accommodation-related transactions.

Room Booking And Payment Period

The official window for hostel room booking and payment runs from 26 January to 9 February 2026.
Students are reminded that successful booking is only valid upon full payment within this period.

Strict Payment Deadline

The University has emphasized that any hostel reservation not fully paid for by the close of business on 9 February 2026 will be automatically cancelled.
Early booking without timely payment will not secure a bed space under any circumstances.
