The Students' Union Government of the University of Cross River State has addressed concerns among students, particularly freshers, by confirming that the matriculation ceremony for the new academic session has not been cancelled.
In a recent press release, the SUG leadership clarified that preparations for the matriculation ceremony are ongoing. The university authorities will announce a new date in due course. The Union explained that the issuance of registration numbers to newly admitted students is a standard administrative procedure, allowing fresh students to complete their course registration and academic documentation without delays while awaiting the formal matriculation ceremony.
The SUG also warned students to be vigilant against extortionists, stating that no individual or group is authorized to demand payment in exchange for matriculation numbers or related academic privileges. The statement emphasized that matriculation processes are strictly institutional and do not require unauthorized payments. Students have been advised to report any persons demanding illegal fees to the appropriate authorities immediately.
Furthermore, the SUG encouraged students to take advantage of available financial aid opportunities, such as the NELFUND application, to support their academic journey. The Union reaffirmed its commitment to protecting students' interests and ensuring a smooth academic experience for all.
