The National Universities Commission (NUC) has officially accredited 11 academic programmes at the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK). This follows a comprehensive accreditation exercise conducted by the commission during October and November 2025.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the institution’s Head of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Jamilu Magaji, it was confirmed that the outcome was conveyed via a letter dated April 7, 2026. The letter was signed by the NUC Director of Accreditation, Engr. Abraham Chundusu, on behalf of the Executive Secretary.
The newly accredited programmes span both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Notably, the list includes Masters in Accounting, M.Sc. Accounting and Finance, Accounting, English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Industrial Chemistry, Microbiology, Physics with Electronics, and Geography. All mentioned programmes received full accreditation from the commission.
Reacting to the news, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad Zaiyan-Umar, expressed immense delight. He noted that the success reaffirms the university's growing academic reputation and its unwavering dedication to excellence. The Vice-Chancellor attributed the success to the hard work and dedication of the academic and administrative staff, the support of the University’s Governing Council, and the commitment of the staff and students. He stated, 'We remain focused on building a strong and reputable university that meets global standards.'
