The University Management held a meeting on Wednesday, 17th June, 2026, to discuss the security of lives and property on campus, particularly the increasing cases of burglary and theft within the University.
While considering the matter, the following were noted: the indiscriminate use of the Foyer and Hall of Fame as a thoroughfare by members of staff and unauthorized visitors into the senate buildings, laboratories, and Lecture Halls. Additionally, some members of staff, students, contractors, and delivery/dispatch vehicle/riders entering the University premises do not possess valid means of identification.
After due deliberations, the University Management decided as follows:
2. All classrooms/Lecture halls should be locked at 6:00 PM to prevent the theft of University property.
3. All staff should ensure that no external person is left unattended to in their offices during official hours and in any case after 6:00 PM.
4. Any member of staff who wishes to stay or work in any office in the Senate Building beyond 7:00 PM should obtain approval from the Registrar.
5. Any individual in restricted areas would be held accountable for any untoward development.
6. The West Gate henceforth shall be closed to vehicles at 7:00 PM.
7. The North Gate shall be closed to vehicles at 10:00 PM.
8. The South Gate shall be closed to vehicles at 12:00 Midnight.
9. All gates shall be opened at 6:00 AM.
10. All members of staff henceforth should wear their Identity Cards while on campus for proper identification.
11. Students without Identity cards shall not be allowed into the campus or lecture rooms.
12. Vehicles with tinted glasses shall not be allowed into the University, and Security personnel on duty shall be sanctioned in the event of a breach.
The attention of the University Community is hereby drawn to the above decisions of the University Management for strict compliance as appropriate.
